Co-educators

In the Shared Memories methodology, a co-educator is a participant in a collective “teaching” process. Their role is not defined by a formal or academic title, but by their willingness to share experiences, knowledge and perspectives in a framework of critical dialogue, mutual care and attentive listening.

The co-educator:

Receive initial training in a workshop given by the project manager. She is also accompanied throughout the process through group meetings and conversations at the end of the weekly sessions.
Contribute to the educational process by contributing their life experience and professional background, whatever it may be.
Participate in the course by accessing the materials that the group of enrollees will be reading, viewing and studying. When guests are invited to the course, co-educators are invited to attend open sessions along with the course enrollees.
With their presence, the concept of expert teachers is broadened, enabling with their collaboration other ways of teaching and learning.
The co-educator is facilitator, partner, interlocutor and learner, all at the same time.
It represents an ethical and political commitment in defense of an integral education of the person and as a collective practice of systemic transformation.

In the context of this project, many co-educators are retired people who, far from retiring from public life, choose to become actively involved in intergenerational training processes, contributing fundamental knowledge that the traditional education system often excludes.
