Palmar Alvarez-Blanco

I am one of the founders and coordinator since its founding of the international platform ALCESXXI. I work as a university professor in Minnesota. As a researcher, I am dedicated to the analysis and historical tracing of the system of the Commons, as well as the problems and crises inherent to the current capitalist system. I am active in the expanded education and research movement and consider education a right and knowledge a common good that should be available to everyone and accessible to society as a whole.

In 2015 I devised The Constellation of the Commonsa self-managed open archive project for the constellation of processes that seek to transform the hegemonic system in the Spanish territory. La Constelación also functions as a meeting space for learning and practice communities around the axis of the Commons. It is a place for confabulation and collaboration where to share knowledge, materials, knowledges. The collected processes illuminate real utopias with which the horizon of the alterglobalization movement is illuminated.

In addition to having published essays and opinion articles in different media, I am the author of several books, among them:
Small treaty of friendship. Towards a policy of respect (2024),
En route with the common. Archive and memory of a possible constellation (2017-18-19) (2020),
Oikonomics and citizen action: transiting systems with the Constellation of the Commons (2020-2023) (2024).

Another important drift in my life is my work as a process facilitator, mediator, cultural manager, collective process mentor, and end-of-life companion. I am a certified Death Doula by the University of Vermont and INELDA and an activist committed to the right to a quality and dignified life and death.

Juan Gil Marín

I am 69 years old, widowed with two children, born in Madrid, I have been living in Santander for the last 4 years when I retired. Although I studied Economics, all my professional life has been developed in the world of travel in different positions and countries (I have been very happy in my profession). I am a literature enthusiast and also a music lover. I like swimming and cycling. Curious and with many concerns I like to join projects that motivate me.

I joined the Shared Memories project two years ago. It has been a rewarding and enriching experience. It allows you to enter the world of education without being an education professional, just sharing with young people from another culture how you have gone through key moments in your life and your story or your experience in dealing with everything related to aging.

I say it has been comforting because it has been impressive to see how what they are seeing with us transforms young people who are apparently so far from our criteria, makes them rethink their relationships with their environment and family: it mobilizes them.

And enriching because you come out of this experience with a greater knowledge of yourself by rethinking your history and your criteria for life. The contact with young people, with their values and their concerns for the future gives you a great sense of hope.

Co-Educators Team

The team of co-educators is made up of a valuable group of retired people living in Spain, whose firm commitment to the social transformation of the current system has led them to become actively involved in this co-educational project.

All of them have participated in a specific training workshop and have received their corresponding coeducation certificate.

Their profiles can be consulted in the section dedicated to co-educators.
